Waterproofing
The most important part of your roof system is making sure the waterproofing is installed to manufacturer's specifications so that you can obtain your warranty and the roof will stand the test of time. This is where SolTerra shines. We are factory trained applicators for the oldest single ply roofing manufacture in the US, Carlisle Syntec Incorporated. This certification is generally reserved for roofing companies with 5 years of experience and who are perceived to be within the top 2% in the industry.
SolTerra's expertise lies with application of EPDM, TPO and PVC single ply roof membranes. These high quality systems are a perfect fit for a green roof or solar roof as they are durable and perform well when in constant contact with water. Furthermore, PVC and EPDM roofs have been performing well under green roofs in Germany since the 1970's.

Project: Port Townsend Residence
Location: Port Townsend, WA
Description: SolTerra provided an 80 mil TPO membrane that will have an intensive vegetable roof placed on it. This roof was a little tricky as the customer wanted a seamless transition into the hillside. Now the customer will have the convenience of walking off of their porch to pick some fresh veggies growing above their hillside bedroom.
Elements
While the waterproofing membrane is the integral component of any roof, there are elements that need to be added to many roofs to make them successful. Some of these elements include metal counter-flashing details, insulation, pedestal pavers and safety railing.

Location: Vancouver, WA
Description: For this green roof we designed a metal flashing that would hide the height of the parapet wall and appear as the "crown" of the roof. We also bent metal to separate the black lava rock from the growing medium.
